Twitch is one of the most popular live video streaming portals boasting an average of 15 million daily active users and an estimated 2 million broadcasters per month.
Statistics show that viewers have watched an astounding 255 billion minutes of video streaming in 2017. The platform is owned by Twitch Interactive-a subsidiary of Amazon.
Since Amazon bought the live streaming platform back in 2011, it saw an overwhelming surge in popularity and is currently giving YouTube Gaming a run for its money.
The videos on Twitch are either live or on demand and ranges from live video game stream to eSports broadcast and even music broadcast.
Twitch is the leading video streaming site in the United States and its following is gradually gaining cult status.
Currently popular games such as Fortnite, PUBG, League of Legends, Call of Duty and DOTA are a permanent fixture of Twitch with many players live streaming their game play daily.
However, it is not all fun and games at Twitch as streamers have a lot of options to earn money from such as subscriber fees, donations, ad revenues and sponsorships.
The money earned by some Twitch streamers just by uploading live stream of them playing a game will put many jobs to shame and makes one wonder if they should have played video games professionally. Here’s a list of the top earners on Twitch.
1) Ninja – over 12 million followers
Richard Blevins or Ninja, as he is better known to Twitch users, is the most prolific earner on Twitch with an estimated annual income of a whopping $5.4 million. He earns at least $350,000 per month from his over 50,000 subscriptions alone.
Ninja gained massive popularity by streaming the equally popular game Fortnite daily and even hosted a game with rapper Drake and Travis Scott which broke the record for the maximum views on a single video.
Nearly 60,000 viewers watch Ninja’s live stream every week on an average. Richard used to be professional Halo gamer before taking up Fortnite on Twitch and he hasn’t looked back ever since with many other perks coming his way owing to his sudden success.
